About BadgePirates
BadgePirates LLC has been making electronic conference badges since 2016. What started as a passion project for a couple of conferences has grown into a small but mighty crew of designers, makers, and pirates who love putting hardware in attendees' hands.
What we do
We design, build, and distribute custom electronic badges for security and hacker conferences. Our badges range from simple LED-only PCB art to fully-featured ESP32-S3 devices running custom firmware.
We've built badges for:
- CactusCon (multiple years, including CC14)
- BSidesKC (multiple years, most recently 2025)
- DEF CON / SecKC
- BSides STL, BSides CHS
- BioHacking Village
- OzSec, ToorCamp, SANSHackfest, and many more
A full archive of our public badge projects lives in our GitHub organization.
Our motto
Making badges for fun and no profit.
We're not a commercial badge house. Most of what we earn from sales goes back into the next batch of boards, the next round of components, and the next adventure. The crew is volunteer-driven; we do this because we love it.
